UC Riverside’s Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering now offers a Master of Science degree in robotics, the first and only one of its kind in the University of California system.
Together with his students and collaborators, Prof. Pasqualetti has received the 2020 Roberto Tempo Best CDC Paper Award from the IEEE Control Systems Society, and the 2020 IEEE Control Systems Letters Outstanding Paper Award.
Amit Roy-Chowdhury, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at UC Riverside’s Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering, is leading a team that has received a grant totaling almost $1 million from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, to understand the vulnerability of computer vision systems to adversarial attacks.
By adding this layer of “mechanical intelligence” onto the artificial decision-making algorithms that animate most robots, the researchers are building robots that are better able to navigate different environments, perform delicate tasks, or eventually be worn by people for therapeutic purposes.
